Design
& Permit
Step 1: Once your pool design has been drawn to scale, it will be submitted to your city in order to obtain
a permit for the work we have contracted. The time frame for approval
differs depending on the city. If there is a homeowners
association involved, permission must first be obtained before we can
proceed. Through out the construction process, inspections
will be made by city inspectors in order to assure that
all city codes are being met.
Layout & Excavation
Step 2: Layout is done by taking the dimensions
of your pool from the approved plans, and marking out the
area to excavate in your yard. Bender boards are put into
place, and then the excavation begins by use of a Bobcat.
The pool shape is formed by excavating the dirt to form
the basic shape of your pool. Skimmers, lights, steps, love
seats and benches are hand-shaped at the gunite stage.
Steel, Plumbing & Gas
Step 3: Next, in the excavated area, steel is placed
along the bottom and walls of your pool on spacers to form
a 'curtain' in the center of the gunite. This
creates the stability of the 'hull or shell' of your pool. Any suspended
benches or steps will also require steel.
Plumbing is installed to circulate and filter water throughout
your pool. The amount of plumbing needed will be determined
by the size of your pool. Equipment, along with any water
features that you desire, will be installed at this stage.
Electrical, and any needed gas lines will also be
installed.
Gunite
Step 4: Gunite is a concrete mixture that is used
to form your pool. The floor and walls are applied with
a high-pressure hose. Skimmers, benches, loveseats and steps
are hand shaped at this time.
Masonry
Step 5: Waterline tile is installed around the
perimeter of the pool, which provides aesthetic beauty, and
helps to prevent waterline stain on your pebble/plaster finish.
Coping is installed around the top perimeter of the pool.
If you are getting any waterfalls, this is when the boulders
are set in place for such water features. There are numerous
style selections for you to choose from.
Decking
Step 6:
Decking is laid out with forms according to dimensions taken
from your plans. Rebar or fiber mesh is placed in all decks,
as well as drainage. When choosing your decking needs, it
is important to take into consideration room needed for tables,
chairs and entertainment areas.
Equipment Set
Step 7: Your equipment is delivered and installed
at this time. West Coast Pools, Inc. uses high-quality,
state-of-the-art equipment.
Finish
Step 8: The pool finish is now applied, sealing
the gunite, and creating the waterproof 'lining' of your pool. There are many
finishes from which to choose from. White or colored plaster, pebble
finishes, (an exposed pebble aggregate) 3M material, Hydrazzo... Whatever your choice,
your pool is sure to provide years of enjoyment and pleasure.
Immediately after plastering, water is added to your
pool.
Start Up & Orientation
Step 9: All equipment will be tested for leaks
and proper operation. Our trained technicians will add chemicals
and balance your pool water. Once everything is operational,
they will instruct you on the operation of all equipment,
and answer any questions you have.
